Antique rugs by definition in the “rug world” are known as those that were woven over 100 years ago. It is with this age, that pieces from this era become softer in tone, whilst maintaining the mellowness and purity which gives to the antique rug its immeasurable superiority over newer rugs of the same type. Museums, Historical Houses and Art collectors desire to hold Antique or Semi-Antique rugs (woven over 50 years ago) stem from the old refined colour and softened wool that these pieces exude. Saffar’s large collection of Antique rugs and kilims have been hand selected and mainly originate from Persia (Iran), the Caucasus and Turkey.
